This jewellery box is a handmade piece, crafted out of ironwood, adorned with ebony and sycamore fillets, and edged with ebony. The design is inspired in the logo of Caixa Geral de Depósitos and is a result of the author´s collaboration with this financial institution, hence he called it Euro.Geometrically, the exterior of the jewellery box is a right irregular hexagonal prism, with a height of 3.8cm. The lid coincides with the upper base of the prism and completely separates from the body of the piece when the jewellery box is opened. The lid is decorated with an irregular hexagon, also bordered with another irregular hexagon, similar to the lid of the piece, which reinforces its three-dimensional shape.

Este guarda-joias foi construído na década dos anos 90, do século 20, com madeiras nobres, em pau-ferro, decorada com filetes de ébano/sicómero, orlada com ébano. O desenho inspirado no símbolo da Caixa Geral de Depósitos surge por o autor ter colaborado nesta instituição, daí, ter-lhe atribuído o nome de “Euro”. A peça é essencialmente decorativa, no entanto, o seu cariz é utilitário, servindo portanto, como guarda-joias. O guarda-joias "Euro" faz parte integrante da coleção dos 81 guarda-joias, doada à Universidade de Aveiro pelo Sr. Eng.º Joaquim Domingos Capela em Dezembro de 2013.Language
