Description
An outline of a cathedral rests on a woman's head, separated from each other by a strip, where a leafy forest populates the space and some words in French are written.
Stratified into three levels of different heights and lengths, the print ‘opens up’ in the absence of a frame.
The first level, located at the top of the print, depicts the cathedral in a fine line in blood colour.
The second level, in between, has a dense forest of various tree species to the left and centre, where black shadows proliferate. The letters ‘B’ and ‘A’ are drawn on the treetops in grey. The right-hand side is occupied by a square in grey and ochre on which is written in black, in a school handwriting, in French: ‘La grande paix des cathedrales n'en efface pas l'accent de la vie’. Lower down, only "la sculpture" (the sculpture) is discernible in brown, forming part of a sentence that continues on the last level in black.
The last landing, coinciding with the base of the engraving, is longer than the previous ones. In the center is the face of a young woman, whose expression is one of aloofness. Slightly tilted down over her left shoulder, you can see her serene countenance, her light-colored eyes, her thin lips and her high, bare forehead. The light is directed from the left side.
The rest of the piece remains dark, with no distinction of details, except for two lightened spots: 1 - in the top left corner where “1979” stands out in black, and 2 - a vertical white stripe located to the right of the woman's face.
