The jewelry box collection consists of 81 small wooden boxes, handcrafted by the luthier Eng. Joaquim Domingos Capela, who donated them to the University of Aveiro in December 2013.
In this collection, the artist used fine woods combined with other materials such as mother-of-pearl, bone, ivory, glass, and brass, creating a wide variety of decorative effects.
The design of the objects in this collection was partly inspired by mathematics and plane and spatial geometry, with some of the lids of these jewelry boxes featuring crystallographic shapes.
