A body lying on the ground, surrounded by a low circular wall, located in an open plain with low vegetation and rare solitary trees. Solitude is a visible element in the work due to the absence of buildings and human elements. The absence of a frame also increases the depth of the horizon, giving a sense of immensity and intensifying the feeling of loneliness.The only figurative element, located in the foreground, in the center of the piece, is the body that remains, on its back, with its feet to the left and its head to the right. The lower limbs are covered in rags, leaving the bare feet uncovered. The left leg, retracted, rests on the right leg and the stretched right arm, the only one visible, supports the head, which looks severed due to its displacement in relation to the torso. The right hand, inert and illuminated, stretches out the black hair.
Curiously, the light is distributed heterogeneously over the body. The lower limbs are visible, detailed, almost overshadowed by the excess of light, contrasting with the upper limbs and the head, which become imperceptible due to the predominance of shadow.
