A closed tin can decorated with various slogans from the 70s. Emília Nadal has designed product packaging that satirises and criticises consumer society, culture and politics.In this particular case, it's a tin can drawn on aluminium foil in the pop art style, with the label fragmented into several pieces. Each one contains an appeal through a well-known slogan from the 1970s, which addresses international issues such as ecology, the spread of communism and the cold war.
Placing the tin allows you to see the word ‘Slogan's’ written on the top edge in yellow letters outlined in red.
Randomly placed on the tin you can read phrases such as ‘SAUVONS LA MER’; ‘EL PUEBLO UNIDO JAMÁS SERÁS VENCIDO’; MAKE LOVE NOT WAR"; LOOK NOW! AND SMILE! SEE" among others. To reinforce the message conveyed by the phrases, the author surrounds them with representative drawings, giving them greater symbolism. The word MER, painted blue, emerges over the ripple of the water, the red ‘Smile’ is accompanied by smiling lips, LOVE by a huge daisy and the white word WAR is surrounded by an explosive cloud. In the centre of the picture are fingers with long nails painted red. Hidden underneath is a smiling open mouth with white teeth.
