Description
Entrance to an open-air inner courtyard through an ajar door centred on the engraving. The scene is reminiscent of the entrance to threatened villages, protected by picket fences. In this particular case, the door is made of horizontal wooden slats similar to the rungs of a ladder. These are fixed on the left-hand side by a rudimentary pole, which culminates in a fork towards the sky. The rod also serves as a support for another door on the left, also half-open. The latter is plain and has ‘VIVA MPLA’ written on it in red. Both doors are secured at the top by another rod, which extends horizontally to the right, connecting to a wall of wooden slats, the pattern of which resembles the central door. The half-open doors make visible a section of the apparently empty atrium. Inside you can see the roof of a house and the attached wall. The built structures are in black and white, contrasting with the saturated golden ochre sky and the light grey floor.
