Description
Partial conception of a bird, in black and white, depicted upside down, with wings and hind feathers spread. The animal's subleveling is possible in: a) head, b) trunk, and c) hind feathers.
a) The head is drawn in the lower half of the work. The black head is small and undersized in relation to the rest of the body. Drawn in profile, it also has an elongated, pointed, black beak. The light neck is stretched, and the back line of the head orients to the right. The eye is black, circular, and large.
b) The back appears as a black spot covering the central strip of the engraving, making it impossible to see the ends of the wings (engraving cut laterally). The separation between the back and wings is not visually perceptible due to the saturation of the black, but the expression of the bird in flight with its wings spread is recognizable.
c) In the upper half of the engraving, the hind feathers protrude. A first row, associated with the end of the trunk, forms a transition zone between the shadowy areas. Light in color, each feather is clearly outlined and decorated with black spots on top. The remaining rows of feathers, overlaid with black, open up to the upper border of the engraving. They are distinguished only by the presence of some rare lightening.
