This jewellery box is a handmade piece of crafted wood, veneered with elm roots and fringed with boxwood and ebony fillets. Due to its shape, the author called it Cube.Geometrically, the outside of the jewellery box is a cube, and its interior is shaped the same way. The lid coincides with the top face of the cube and completely separates from the body of the piece when the jewellery box is opened. The pattern of the elm root provides naturalness and creates a certain hypnotism due to the variation in the tones. The edges are highlighted by a double rim, made with boxwood and ebony fillets, where the light and dark tones of these two noble woods contrast.

Este guarda-joias foi construído na década dos anos 80, do século 20, com madeiras nobres, folheada a raiz de negrilho, orlada com filetes de buxo e ébano. Devido à sua beleza e forma, o autor designou-a por "Cubo". A peça é essencialmente decorativa, no entanto, o seu cariz é utilitário, servindo portanto, como guarda-joias. O guarda-joias "Cubo" faz parte integrante da coleção dos 81 guarda-joias, doada à Universidade de Aveiro pelo Sr. Eng.º Joaquim Domingos Capela em Dezembro de 2013.Languages
