This jewellery case is a handmade piece, made of wood, veneered on the inside with bird´s eye and on the lid with ebony and satinwood, decorated with ebony/sicomer fillets. The author called it "Solidão" (Loneliness), as the decoration of the box symbolically portrays the word "Lonely", associated with the "Queen of Fado", Amália Rodrigues (1920-1999).Geometrically, it is made up of two parts, the storage compartment and the lid, both hollow. The compartment, a straight square prism, fits into the lid and together they form a cube. When the jewellery box is opened, the lid separates completely from the compartment. In the decoration of the cubic lid, we find, on adjacent faces, geometric-artistic representations of the letters "S" and "O" which, when combined, create the word "SÓ" (Alone in Portuguese).

Este guarda-joias foi construído na década dos anos 90, do século 20, com madeiras nobres, folheada a olho-de-perdiz, com tampa cúbica revestida a ébano e pau-cetim, decorada com a palavra "Só" em filetes de ébano/sicómero. Dedicado a Amália Rodrigues o guarda-joias está simbolizado de forma criativa por duas letras ”S” e “O”, em duas faces que conjugadas dão a palavra “Só” que define o estado de alma da artista, a tristeza e a solidão, termo este muito presente no livro de poemas desta eterna senhora. O autor conhecia pessoalmente a artista. A peça é essencialmente decorativa, no entanto, o seu cariz é utilitário, servindo portanto, como guarda-joias. O guarda-joias "Solidão" faz parte integrante da coleção dos 81 guarda-joias, doada à Universidade de Aveiro pelo Sr. Eng.º Joaquim Domingos Capela em Dezembro de 2013.Languages
