Este guarda-joias é uma peça construída com madeiras nobres, de ébano e pau de cetim. É constituído por dois objetos: tampa e cofre. Devido à sua beleza e design, o autor designou-o por "Luz”.Geometricamente a tampa é esférica e o cofre tem a forma de cilindro circular reto (oco e sem base circular superior). A tampa foi construída em pau de cetim, de cor amarela e brilho moderado e o cofre foi folheado a ébano, madeira que tem como característica a cor negra lustrosa.
Quando a tampa está colocada sobre o cofre, uma parte da esfera encontra-se dentro do cilindro, ou seja, a esfera é secionada por um plano paralelo ao da base do cilindro. A interseção da esfera com esse plano é uma circunferência de raio igual ao do cilindro. Ao abrir o guarda-joias, a tampa esférica separa-se completamente do cofre.
This jewellery box is a piece crafted out from noble woods, ebony and satinwood. It consists of two parts: the lid and the storage compartment. Due to its beauty and design, the author called it "Light".
Geometrically the lid is spherical and the main compartment is shaped as a right circular cylinder (the inside is hollow and the upper base inexistent). The lid was crafted out of satinwood, which is yellow in color and moderately shiny, and the compartment is veneered in ebony, a wood characterized by its lustrous black color.
When the lid is placed on the storage compartment, a part of the sphere sits inside the cylinder, i.e., the sphere is sectioned by a plane parallel to the base of the cylinder. The intersection of the sphere with this plane, is made by a disk with a radius equal to that of the cylinder. When opening the jewellery box, the spherical lid will completely separate from the box.

Este guarda-joias foi construído na década dos anos 90, do século 20, com madeiras nobres, de corpo cilíndrico folheado a ébano, com tampa esférica em pau-cetim. Devido à sua beleza e design, o autor designou-a por "Luz". A peça é essencialmente decorativa, no entanto, o seu cariz é utilitário, servindo portanto, como guarda joias. O guarda-joias "Luz" faz parte integrante da coleção dos 81 guarda-joias, doada à Universidade de Aveiro pelo Sr. Eng.º Joaquim Domingos Capela em Dezembro de 2013.Languages
